DaFeng Art Gallery is honored to present the American Modern Master's last work, "The Lotus Series". "The Lotus Series" is comprised of 12 original pigmented inkjet and photogravure prints based on photographs taken by Robert Rauschenberg on his trips to China in the 1980's, including the artist's solo exhibition at the Chinese National Museum of Art in 1985 as part of the Rauschenberg Overseas Cultural Initiative. The importance of the ROCI exhibit in Beijing as a catalyst for modern Chinese art's evolution from Soviet-inspired Socialist Realism to more avant-garde modes of expression cannot be underestimated, and Rauschenberg thus occupies a unique position in Chinese art history that is unparalleled among Western artists.

"The Lotus Series" shows us "a time in the history of the Chinese people––a story of Modern day China full of curiosity and life––told by the genius of one man’s vision." What better time than 2008, on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of China's opening and immediately following the Beijing Olympics, to revisit a very special time in China's recent past through the eyes of a very special person?
